I believe this is off topic and does not belong into PSARC.

Perl may not belong into ON, but there is other software (currently from 
other consolidations) that logically belong into ON.

ON should be self-contained and complete enough to be used in GUI-less
embedded systems. It should only contain software with a free enough license 
for embedded usage.
