That begs at least two questions:

A. Why not?  It hardly seems a physical law that support cannot be  
offered on "contributed" items.

2. How do support plans determine architecture?

And probably:

III.  If there's a larger architecture here, it can't be ignored; it  
needs to be part of the ARC review (closed if necessary).  Has it been  
described?
