OpenSolaris is a technology base, not a distribution, so the question of whether it's good for server use is incomplete. Certainly we believe the Solaris distribution of this technology, particularly Solaris 10, is excellent for server use. Solaris Express may or may not be appropriate for your purposes; it's a beta product generally useful for developers and early adopters, and those doing evaluation and testing of new technology, as well as OpenSolaris contributors looking for a reliable base on which to build and test their changes. Check out the SX program information at http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/solaris-express/ and decide for yourself whether Solaris Express is right to you. There are other distributions of OpenSolaris technology, such as SchilliX, and you'll need to check with the providers of those distributions to understand their intended deployment scenarios.
