I think it has more to do with my experience in working with a large
source base that has a lot of maintainers.  While you might see <random
SCM> support as harmless and nice, I view it as unnecessary clutter
that's likely to provide little or no real benefit to anyone.  Clutter
makes maintenance work harder.  In this case it's relatively benign
clutter, so I wouldn't advocate taking it out if it were already there.
But I (still) don't think it's worth adding, either.

It's certainly worth thinking about what other things could be fixed or
improved while you're in an area.  But that doesn't mean it's worth
doing all the things you think of.  

Also, in case it's not clear, this is all my personal opinion.
