OpenSolaris Team,

I have gone through MANY gyrations of OpenSolaris 5/08 LiveCD attempts
to install on my new Toshiba Satellite Laptop (Model: P305D-S8828, P/N:
PSPD8U-007001).. even with boot device exclusions, etc.. to no avail..

This is on a new Toshiba Satellite laptop (ultimately to be a Vista Dual
boot.. partitioning is done..).

I saw a post somewhere on google that OpenSolaris doesn't support S-ATA
DVD drives for
installation and need to know if this is true and if so, WHEN it will be
resolved as all the new HW seems to be using SATA (though I need to
check my SuperMulti DVD drive w Labelflash.. as it shows up as ATA
though so does my HD which is SATA).

It starts to load.. gets past "Done mounting Live Image" .. and then
"USB Keyboard" .. right after
locale listings.. it immediately goes to a blank screen and just HANGS !

I've done the dual boot install on other Toshiba Tecra's.. and assumed
this would be fine.. even ran the HW compatibility utility and it only
showed some firewire driver issue.. but I booted and
disabled that+... (-B disable-hci1394=true,disable-ehci=true) but still
have this issue.

Please help as I am frustrated.. and get NO error message.. (trying to
boot into text console doesn't work either). Since there's no kernel
booted.. I can't look into any /var/adm/messages..

Is there a Debug Mode flag I can add to the kernel boot line ? (or
somehow see where it's failing ??).
OR.. is this a known issue that I can work around somehow, or download a
later or NON-OpenSolaris rev to use ?

Loading OpenSolaris on my new desktop also fails (though that's
different.. and I'll get to that when I load my laptop.. which I need asap).

Please point me in the right direction, as the online OpenSolaris
support has comments posted there for several months with NO answers..
and I don't want to go right to engineering.

Thanks,
