Shame. The 2100 (I think I paid $15 for it on eBay) is a cheap entry level
controller. I have one, and I attach it to a 3 disk "array" either directly or
a FC hub. This is all done with an AL though, so nothing "real" there. But
still, there's a market for it. People who just want a bucket of storage
independent of their PC but with decent performance (like me) can make a lot of
use from a simple FC-AL setup. And I do. So just for people like me: Don't
simply drop support for these devices, but throw the sources out there! At
least so we can keep using our stuff in Solaris. Also people wanting to
experiment with storage can have a lot of fun with these kind of controllers.
I've spent a few bucks on eBay and friends, and I've got a 3 disk FC loop setup
for like $250 or so. That includes all the spare parts, hub (not needed for a
simple loop), GBICs (copper and fiber, not needed for a simple loop either),
backplane, disks, cabling, etc.

BTW, the controller works fine in Solaris 10 (SPARC) with the package mentioned
earlier in this thread. I haven't gotten my JNI/Adaptec controller or the
Emulex Lightpulse to work in Solaris, but as long as the QLA2100 works, I'm
happy. Too bad the ext2 driver I found crashes the kernel so I can't get to the
data I need :)
