Solaris has always been good under load, something Linux falls with
typically. It
really wasn't until recentely that Linux could handle 2 CPUs, and the only
reason it can *marginally* utilize 2 CPUs is due to Moore's Law, IMO. Running
Linux on SMP systems is like running a Yugo on the autobaun. Ok, maybe a Yugo
is not a good analogy...maybe it's like a Ford Probe with a bad
cylinder.

I was specifically addressing what you said in an earlier post. It took me some
real data and examples to get people to a point where they now agree that Linux
isn't nearly as bad as what was claimed above, in fact it competes head to head
with Solaris today. Sometimes it is lagging, sometimes it's leading. And
believe me, if someone would have said something equally false about Solaris
without numbers, proofs - I would have gone to the same length to prove how
it's not true.

And when I made a statement I always backed it up with numbers (SPEC, Solaris
bug database for e.g.). I claimed FUD when people made false statements without
proving them.

Does Sun have anything to learn? Yes, learn to co-exist and live well with
other OSS solutions. Don't start with a mindless aim of forcing Solaris on
people at any and every cost and opportunity. OSS forums are not marketing
commercials they do on TV where you advertise Pepsi against Coke - sometimes
with help of great models and other times with purely non-provable claims. Let
people drink what they like and what they believe suits them.
