I finally got around to posting the photos I took at the first OS-GLUG
meeting (Oct 20th):
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/os_user_groups/glug/photos/
And here's a related question/suggestion: How widespread are Solaris
Bootcamps? The reason I ask is that roughly half of the 31 non-Sun
attendees at our first meeting would not have known about it if not for
an "11th hour" announcement sent to the local Solaris Bootcamp mailing
list. Before discovering the Solaris bootcamp mailing list, I had
broadcast the announcement to the following:
- ug-discuss and opesolaris-discuss
- A Sun alias that covers sales reps and technical specialists (SEs)
in the two Chicago offices. (The message asked them to forward the
message to the technical people in their accounts.)
- [EMAIL PROTECTED] (The meta-centralized mailing list for Chicago/Northern
Illinois Linux Users)
- The [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yahoo group
- The comp.unix.solaris Usenet newsgroup
- blogs.sun.com
So if your user group is in a city where Solaris bootcamps have been
held in the past, be sure to find out who manages the bootcamp mailing
list. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to forward your future meeting
announcements to it.
Eric
P.S. The bootcamp mailing lists are one-way notification lists, not
discussion lists.
