I don't know Jörg, there have been complaints about vold for as long as I can 
remember and a large part of it is because if something goes wrong you can't 
force an ejected state  to fix it. If I was able to force an eject on demand 
and get volume manager to recognise it then I'd probably have far less 
complaint about vold.
