I think a lot of people would really like that.

gcc's quality is jus ttoo variable, IMHO; and its performance
generally sucks too.

I was asked to move the compiles on the CCD to gcc and have done that.
The KDE that we put out initially will be Stefan's current Studio compiled one.
I think it will stay that way so long as that the Studio version is the one that works best.

Once all this is out in the world for people to contribute to, the setup should allow
the developer to use either Studio or gcc by editing the Makefiles to point to
that compiler and making sure any dependencies are there for users.  In fact, in some of the
CCD builds, I used gcc 2.95.3 because the compiles failed with gcc 3.4.3.  So, it should not
that hard to pick the compiler if one is better than another.

Moving KDE to gcc might turn out to be a good thing, just an experiment, or a waste
of time.  I presume that this will be determined by how many people want to do it..  As
far as the CCD builds go, I suspect contributors will simply choose the compiler
they want to use and, so long as the software builds in the environment and creates no major conflicts, it should be OK.
