We've already put a mechanism into Solaris for switching between the Mesa & nVidia OpenGL libraries via a script run at boot by SMF - it first appears in Solaris Nevada build 34. I'd say to see http://bugs.opensolaris.org/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6377618 for details, but just noticed those are sorely lacking from the bug report.
