Hey, I'm stuck on the same problem... It crashes during extension registering too. Initially I thought it is our gcc problem, but looks like you are seeing the same issue. Lets cooperate on this one. Currently I'm updating our package base to Ubuntu/Dapper, which will bring Xorg 7.0, GNOME 2.14 and KDE 3.5.1 among other bug fixes which been done in the past 6 months by Debian and Ubuntu crews.
