I found an old mail (August 2005) where someone with an Acer TravelMate2300 laptop had the same problem. That laptop used the Intel ICH4 audio controller and also had the 0x43585430 Conexant AC'97 codec. The Sun audio driver didn't produce sound, but my i810 audio driver fixed the problem. > This is what I see for audio810: > > Apr 24 01:16:37 nx9601 audiosup: [ID 617409 kern.info] NOTICE: audio8100: > audio8100: xid=0x0a04, vid1=0x4358, vid2=0x5430 > > This is what I see for audioi810 Hmm "HP_OUT". > > Apr 25 20:48:11 nx9603 audioi810: [ID 216691 kern.info] AC97: primary codec, > rev. 2.3, vendor id1:0x4358,id2:0x5430, Headphone out, 18-bit DAC, 18-bit > ADC, 3D-stereo mode 0, aux HP_OUT But that shouldn't matter. I've added some code to report the AC'97 features, but my i810 driver doesn't change behaviour because the codec announces that its AUX channel is a "headphone out" channel. When using Sun's i810 audio driver, did you check in "sdtaudiocontrol" that all output channels are enabled, a reasonable volume is set and sound output is unmuted?
