WWAN differs from a WLAN (e.g. wireless LAN) since it uses cellular network technologies such as GPRS / CDMA2000 / GSM / CDPD / Mobitex to transfer data. These cellular technologies are offered regionally, nationwide, or even globally and are provided by a wireless service provider such as: AT&T Wireless, Cingular Wireless, Sprint PCS or Verizon for a monthly usage fee.
I propose a project to support this emerging technology in Solaris. This includes developing device drivers, configuration files and scripts for various devices, and possibly a graphical front end.
