i've been running solaris 10 on my ferrari 4000 for some time now and i can't help but notice that there are times when the desktop interaction gets bogged down, sometimes slowing to a halt-- the mouse pointer becomes very sluggish or sometimes stops moving all together. i'v been running various linuxes for years on similar x86 hardware and don't remember having ever encountered such behavior.
this behavior usually occurs when a CD is inserted or a big program is launched, so i'm guessing that Xorg is running 'nicer' than it does under linux. can anyone confirm this and if it is indeed true, then is the proper fix to decrease the niceness of X?
