It's not a private war at all considering it means Debian is rejecting the CDDL 
-- which this entire project is currently centered around. In addition, it is 
important for others to know that are contributing to this project because it 
helps them understand the challenges they face if they want to help Nexenta 
integrate contributed changes upstream.

Normally I avoid derailed threads such as this, but Shawn has a good
point.  If Debian is rejecting the CDDL, then I think this is
something that should be made aware to the community.  I follow
several high traffic osol lists, and this is the first I have heard
about this issue.

While Debian is my Linux of choice, I do not currently use Debian or
Nexenta.  However, the thought of CDDL packages being placed into
"non-free" (as was mentioned elsewhere in this thread) is a bit
distressful to me.
