I do have a problem with that. :)

No.
No flames.
But Solaris is certainly not the most GUI-oriented os on earth.
Everybody knows this and it is just a question of taste and requirements.
I - for example - am happy, that I can use/control cdrecord through a serial
console (i.e. when no network-conection for X11 forwarding is present for
whatever reason).
And that it supports its options (only a few are needed most of the time [but
I'm happy to have choice]).
And that I can easily and _quickly_ re-use the longest command lines imaginable
(copy&paste, DONE).
It is therefore easier, safer and faster to use, than a GUI, where you can
never be sure, that you didn't forget to click on this or that checkbox in 1000
of 1000 cases.

Wrong.
I'm not such an asshole some people seem to think.
I am rather open-minded, not "narrow-minded".
And saying directly, what I think, is part of it.

I did not start making cdrecord a bad thing.
On a flat general level like "A is better than B".
I am happy it exists. And it is free.
Users should and do have choice. That's good!

As I said, Solaris is not all that much GUI-oriented (and dependant[!]).
There are many many examples other than cdrecord, where a GUI is not the
default (or doesn't even exist yet).

linUX is different in that aspect.
That's why I suggested GUI-lovers to consider "other platforms".
Or to write a good GUI for whatever they would like to see one :)

Instead of flaming Joerg Schilling ...
