A little less than a year ago, we purchased an HP Pavilion ze2000 notebook specifically to see how well Solaris would work on the then new Turion64 system. To say that we were disappointed is an understatement. During our first tries (Solaris 10), there was no net connection. During the second (Solaris 10u1), we even lost the ability to boot into a graphic screen.
But, inspired by your post, I decided to run Solaris Express 44 on this machine. Echoing your praise for Sun's boys and girls, everything now works. The NIC works (I am using this machine to post this reply), the graphic window works flawlessly, and the sound works as well. I also downloaded and install Casper's frkit power management script; it went without a hitch. To say that I am owed (as in "deeply impressed") is a new understatement.
