First off, I would like to thank the community for being so patient with
this release of bugs.opensolaris.org. This project has taken a little
longer than anticipated due to some unforeseen obstacles. Please know
that we intend to keep making progress on b.o.o in the future.
For this particular release, our goal was to have it re-written to be
easier to modify in the future and to make some easy fixes. The
majority of the present enhancements are informational upgrades. In the
future we will try focus on:
* RSS feed function.
Erm, no. Could we get a mail notification system FIRST, please ? Solaris
doesn't even ship with a RSS client for the shell right now[1].
We have a mail notification system. It's just utterly useless.
For those who can see it, take a look at CR 6488448.
(and Roland, you won't be able to. It got moved to a category we can't see,
despite it being me that filed it)
Well... as bad as that seems, it was not done to hide anything from you.
The mails from bugster you are seeing are leveraging an OEM interface,
which has it's bugs tracked under product "bugtraq2.0" in bugster - not
something that is open or even controlled by the opensolaris folks (I believe
B.O.O. just shows bugs under product "solaris", so perhaps the B.O.O.
folks can work around this for you?)
I was aware of 6488448 when I suggested to the B.O.O. folks that they
use it, but I figured it was better than nothing (so you can at least
see *something* is happening with the bug & ask your sponsor to keep
you in the loop of the details as opposed to being completely in the
dark). It is a stop gap until we can come up with something better,
which I believe several people are working on.
I have raised this issue before with the team that owns the software,
asking that they please include at a minimum Description and build information.
Obviously, we cannot send the entire bugreport out of Sun, as it contains
confidential data of our customers, but we can certainly do better than this.
I'll raise the issue again.
