You mean this ? :

That's a problem child, I know. I'll look into it if you file a bug
report. You did file a bug report right ?

No one "supports" Solaris Express. Not even Sun. I think what you mean is
that the software is fully expected to run just fine.

It IS expected to run just fine. There, okay ?

You see, it works like this. If you have a piece of software that is
compiled on Solaris 8 and it runs fine on Solaris 8 then you can rest
assured that it will run on Solaris 9. Thats a promise. If it runs on 9
then it will run on 10. That's a promise. If it runs on 10 then you have
every reason to expect it to run on Solaris Express which is really
Solaris 11 beta. The word I use is "expect" because Solaris Express is a
moving picture.

  What ?

no no no .. just say no.

Get Sun Studio 11 and then install a _real_ commercial grade SET of tools
that far exceed GCC. In every measurable way. Look man, I don't work for
Sun and I'm not just blowing smoke here. Nothing builds software better
on Solaris than the Studio tools and you can get Studio 11 for free. It
probably rocks on Linux also but I wouldn't know.

If you really want GCC then fine .. guess what .. its built in there
already and if you want a multitude of versions to choose from then look
in the packages list at :

Under the rug? The Companion CD has been around forever. I dunno.

Well that is without a doubt one of the funniest things I have heard in a
long long time. That is like someone standing in the Library of Congress
saying that they can't find a book. The whole community process and
everyone in it is in front of you and all you have to do is ask a
question. Try that at a library and it works there too.
