Ah I like stating the obvious. IBM and RedHat are not driving the community. Yes they are part of the community and no one could deny that but the key is that they work within the community's interests. They comply with the community's rules, they do not, for example force strategies, usage of tools, SCM, processes on the community. Community decides that stuff and everyone in the community happily uses it.
