And this is where Sun needs to spend some $$ on good marketing and
reaching out the schools and universities to change these perceptions.
I mean when was the last time we saw a Sun commercial on the TV? There
are some good ones on-line poking fun at Dell, but that's about it.

Sun puts a lot on the table and contributes in soo many ways to the
open source community. Unfortunately, it's lost in translation
somewhere along the line. The key thing is that Sun and the OpenSolaris
community need to work towards sending out the right message and being
consistent.

Winning the hearts and minds of the Linux camp should not be a major
focus. We have to differentiate ourselves in such a way that we attract
new developers and businesses looking for a solution. Focusing on the
Linux camp is not the right thing to do. It's no different than trying
to convince a Windows user to switch to Linux or the other way around.
The best we can do is make the migration to OpenSolaris or Solaris
easy. People don't want more of the same, they want something different
and better;)
