First let me apologize if this question has been asked before. I could
not find any references and I am pretty new to the OpenSolaris Boards.
I don't have as much experience with Solaris as I do with AIX and HP/UX
so my question may be elementry.
My question is in reference to Solaris Zone Stability:
I can see that if a zone fails it is the same as a server crash except it
can quickly be rebooted and in some cases where you have virtualized the
I/O (disk, nic) the failure can be avoided all together.
But what happens if your Global Zone fails? will the other Zones
experience failure and do you have to reboot the entire machine?
Example : Lets say I have a E6900 (fully kitted out!) with 15 zones.
Five (5) of those zones are whole root zones and ten (10) are partial
root zones. If I loose my global zone (for some reason) have I lost my
entire production environment?
Before anybody can answer this properly, you need to
define what you mean by zone "failure"
