What's going on at JavaOne 2007?

The JavaOne conference will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from May 8th - 11th. This year's event has alot of expanded tracks focusing on Open Source, Web 2.0 and scripting, in addition to the popular, mainstream Java platform technology tracks. http://java.sun.com/javaone/sf/index.jsp

The OpenSolaris Community has a couple of things rolling...things you might find interesting to participate in:

CommunityOne--Moscone Center--May 7th
There is an OpenSolaris track being presented at Community Day. This is a FREE EVENT and if you are a registered member of Sun's developer network, you can also get a free pass to JavaOne General Sessions and exhibits on the first day. Go here to read all about it...and to register! http://developers.sun.com/events/communityone/index.jsp

OpenSolaris Pod in the Sun Booth--
Last year Dan, Stephen and I had a blast "toasting" Nexenta Live CDs...and we got alot of interest. It was alot of fun.

OpenSolaris in the .org Zone--
This year Sun is sponsoring a booth for .orgs to "drop in and demo" --it's called the .org ZONE and the OpenSolaris community is invited to drop by and play. If you'd like to sign up for a 2-hour slot to meet and greet, contact Laura Ramsey and we'll make it happen. We have 2 pavilion / general session passes for folks doing "booth duty"...so let me know if you want on that schedule!

The Open Source UnBOF--Thirsty Bear Brewing Company--
Be sure to come out for a few beers on Wednesday night, May 9th from 7:30-10:00 at the Thirsty Bear Brewing company on Howard Street in SF. The event is open to all open source community members --and we'll have an invitation list going up on UPCOMING.org soon. Stay tuned, but even if you don't sign up at UpComing...I'll be at the door and you KNOW opensolaris members will get an extra drink ticket!

Open Source Track--JavaOne Conference Sessions--Moscone Center, May 8-10th
If you have an interest in Java development, this is a good track that shines a spotlight on some of the people and open source Java projects in play. Sessions focus on real-world examples and experiences-both big and small, known and new-with developing and leveraging code that uses a free/open source model. Learn technical details of code bases, how to develop and contribute code, how to collaborate on projects beyond just the bits, and how these projects and processes can make your own development projects more valuable – to you as well as your customers.

Cruise thru the JavaOne Conference Content catalog at http://www28.cplan.com/cc158/sessions_catalog.jsp and look under the open source topic...might be something interesting there for you.

So, that's just a few things going on. There might be more...It's just a good start.
