See my other post for a proposal to bring us into a more modern era - basically turn off /home as an automount point when only using local files for nsswitch.conf's automount database.
The problem I see with this is that it makes it more difficult to transition between the two configuration models - If I start out with a non-NFS'd install, but then wish to convert to a NFS'd environment, this path leaves me in a lurch.
Leaving the local home dirs in /export/home with a localhost entry in the auto_home map means that I can still change the configuration of the system in the future without having to move file systems around. It also means that there is only one installation scheme to document. -John _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
