It did actually work. I'm an idiot, because I thought "hostname" was meant
as the variable %hostname% so I typed in the actual name of the host. Ugh.

Anyhow, it's working great now!

What do you mean, that didn't work? That has to work. It's how interfaces
are configured manually on Solaris. If it didn't work, something else is up
with your system.

/etc/hostname.ipge1:
192.168.10.12/24 broadcast + up

(literally type in "+".)

Also, would you please provide the output of the following command:

svcs -xv
