It did actually work. I'm an idiot, because I thought "hostname" was meant as the variable %hostname% so I typed in the actual name of the host. Ugh.

If it didn't work, something else is up with your system. /etc/hostname.ipge1: 192.168.10.12/24 broadcast + up (literally type in "+".)
