I do admit that Solaris is a state of the art UNIX system, that is

If OpenSolaris/Indiana moves to an Ubuntu/MacOS X style "always log in
as a normal user, prompt for the root password when a command needs
root" (implemented using sudo on Ubuntu, not sure about MacOS X),
does the root shell issue not become moot? I.e., the root shell
can stay the same because most new users will rarely exec
a root shell, but will rather do all root things via sudo etc.?
Some elbow grease is required here. Solaris RBAC is very powerful and
flexible but is also quite difficult to configure and use. In fact I
have seen
so many people get frustrated with configuring RBAC, install sudo and
use it instead - single config file, easy to setup rules.
A tool that makes configuring Solaris RBAC easy is badly needed, whether
GUI or CLI. The tool should also be able to accept a sudo config file and
generate equivalent RBAC configuration. This will make Solaris
approachable
to many folks and give the advantage of having one config file being
portable
across platforms.
