I have a couple build 55 installs.

Each of these has issues with file transfer speeds. Specifically FTP and NFS.
It's been awhile since I've messed with the NFS transfers cause my test
environment doesn't really need it. That's at work but I also run this at home.
If I'm browsing the web I can download files at normal DSL speed. I think even
if I download via ftp in firefox the speeds are the same.

However if I use gftp to download files, transfers speeds are appallingly slow.
Even over the LAN.
We're talking almost dialup speeds. A simple 5meg mp3 file can take up to 20
minutes to download from a machine on the LAN. Happens at home on 10Mbit LAN or
at work on 100Mbit LAN.

What I'm missing? Is there a trick to get normal file transfer speeds on
OpenSolaris? For my home use this annoying, but I'd like to get a couple users
at work on OpenSolaris but since NFS is as slow as FTP this isn't feasible.

Haven't really tested copying a file from a OpenSolaris machine so I'm not
positive if uploads are just as slow. Downloads to a OpenSolaris machine are
unbearable though
