I'll plonk the advice for setting up recording on my blog to help others in a similar situation. Unfortunately HD Audio or we have what Creative is try to extort out of customers - $10 for a driver to enable something that was original promoted as being part of product specifications. Oh well, I remember the good old days with the Amiga and *.mod files and the cool things one could do :-) I guess its the old story of all audio models are crap, some are just less crap than others.
