Brian, As Dennis indicates Blastwave.org has been providing systems of various forms to developers for a long time, and as Shawn points out, Sun, via the testing community is getting close to finishing the development of a test farm and self-service testing. Both these projects are currently seeking beta testers.
In answer to your question, I am interested. And, even if other groups are providing similar services, there is plenty of room for more test resources on opensolaris.org. In addition, VMs are a good test resource to fill now, since the test farm is currently focused on providing whole systems to contributors to test os changes under root access, with VMs planned soon, but not there yet. I suggest you take a look at this and become a beta tester: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/testing/testfarm/ The reservation tool is very powerful and should allow maximum system utilization in a fair manner. In addition, I would checkout Blastwave.org, and see how they have approached test machines. I look forward to working with you. I would like to move this discussion to testing-discuss. Cheers, Jim P.S. I like the quote from Shawn: "Beware of bugs in the above code; I have only proved it correct, not tried it.
