In this specific context, the ability to virtualise processors is useful. LDoms requires that domains have specific physical processors (well, strands) assigned to specific guest domains. Obviously that limits the total number of domains, but more importantly it makes it more difficult to fill a machine with lots of largely idle domains. Incidentally, my understanding is that the architecture of LDoms doesn't prohibit virtualising processors, just that the current revision of hardware+firmware doesn't have it implemented.
