Hello

Currently I have an old computer running OpenBSD 3.7 acting as router in my
home, but I want to upgrade the router with a newer computer and also let it
act as a fileserver. My question is whether OpenSolaris can do what I want
(without using to much experimental code) and if so how one would go about to
achieve that.

My current setup have three NICs, two old Realtek 100Mbps and one Atheros
AR5215 based wireless. One of the Realtek NICs is connected to the modem and
the other is bridged to the wireless. I perform some basic filtering on the
traffic, run a DHCP server on the internal network, and would like to have WEP
or better for the wireless network.

In the newer computer one of the Realtek NICs would be replaced with a Tigon3
based one. The fileserving part would have to be a CIFS/SMB share since most of
the computers are Windows-based ones. Also, since the data stored will have a
some sentimental value I would like (if possible) to perform some kind of
regular health-checks so I can get an early warning if things starts to break
down.

What do you experts think, is this possible to do using OpenSolaris (without
too much experimental code)?
