Yep, I tried to configure a recent mplayer its configure has now 
deteriorated to requiring GNU grep (grep -q, what does that mean?) and
it complaints about "!" command not found (which looks like a bashism?)


The resulting binary wouldn't work either, but I'm not sure why that was;
so in the end I fixed the bus error in the older version on SPARC by using
asm("ta 6") and now my mplayer-plugin works pretty much on-par between
Solaris x86 and Solaris SPARC (doing Windows Media and QT pretty damn good)
