Sun is a for-profit business in a fast changing industry. Times change,
people in the organization change, priorities change, business needs change.
Sun would have gone bankrupt years ago if it couldn't change plans after it
made them.
In 2004, Sun decided it needed it's own JDS Linux distro, and I even spent
some time working on it - today, there's no one at Sun working on that, or
numerous other projects from 2004 that got cancelled and the teams either
reassigned or laid off.
