The IBM PC-AT rtc returns the next second only 0.5 seconds after setting it. I 
assume that this was to keep the error to +/- 0.5 seconds. However, the result 
is that the system clock will be 0.5 seconds faster after a reboot.

At various periods there has been a work-around for this in Linux. This does 
NOT seem to be the case on Solaris 10 u4 x86 (OK, so it is not openSolaris). I 
notice that ntpdate usually adjusts the clock by 0.5 seconds on reboot.
