Can you provide some details on why you think Indiana is or will be any
less standard's compliant than SXCE is? It may very well turn out that
it may be less compliant but that hasn't occurred yet and so I'm just
trying to understand where you're coming from.

First of all, Indiana isn't about Ian. All of the work being done
under the Indiana umbrella were things in progress before he joined the
community. Many of us believe those are projects that need to be done
in order to make OpenSolaris/Solaris succeed in the future.

Could you elucidate the aspects of SXCE that you value which you think
are not in Indiana or will not be in Indiana? I ask because for those
of us working on the latter, we definitely don't want to lose sight of
the positive aspects of SXCE that folks are relying on.

At the moment, Indiana is merely a prototype, a work in progress. It's
made up of strictly redistributable components so there are a number of
things in SXCE that don't currently show up. Over time, I expect more
of those things to be made available either by being emancipated or by
providing a secondary package repository that includes those
components.

Although we obviously don't want to force you to pay attention to
Indiana now, providing feedback now and being part of the project makes
it more likely that we'll be building something that you and others
find useful.
