Sorry, but as someone who runs SPARC and UltraSPARC based hardware for 14+ years now, I'm just not buying that MTBF story. Nor do I believe that there is anything special about those memory chips that makes them super special. All that stuff is made at the usual places. And honestly, apart from the motherboards and CPUs themselves, I've had Sun drives go out in time frames which were the same, earlier or similar to that of any other drive. So I ascertain that there is absolutely nothing special about the processed sand sold under the Sun label. > Second, Sun has not traditionally sold to the low end > market. And I don't believe I'm the only one that wants that to change. I want Sun servers for my company; I prefer them over any other type of hardware. Just not at those prices.
