That's not a bad idea as a starting point. There is a lot of stuff on bigadmin that could be sourced for specific answers besides the faq there.
This is sort of trying to grab a hold of a firehose and pinpoint where it's going to hit. Another possible source for frequency data might be from the freenode solaris irc channels.
