The hold-up here wasn't process (that was straight-forward), but 
trying to fix the Alpine build system to compile against Solaris GSS 
libraries. I think UW got a patch from myself and from others to 
address some of the issues earlier this year.

I had been waiting for a release from UW to see what they'd accepted 
and see what needed to be done from there but I've not had much 
bandwidth since to look at it. I'll try to get back to it over the 
summer, but anyone else who wants to step up and integrate Alpine 
before then is free to do so - the ARC case is there...

I do sort of agree though with the sentiment that we could try and 
streamline some of SFW, though I think the greatest SFW drags are 
around its build-system and not in greater OpenSolaris processes. 
ARCing, for one, is easy.
