Dear Group, I would like to start selling opensolaris media ( DVDs and or CDs ) on my website ( www.thelinuxcdstore.com ). I have a couple of questions:
1. Would this be acceptable in terms of licensing and project guidelines? 2. Is there a public list of online retailers that I can join. My plan is to Download ISO images of DVDs and CDs for the most popular distrubutions and then verify against a checksum provided by the project every DVD or CD I sell prior to shipping. I offer a custom download service ( free download - only pay for the cd, packaging and shipping ) to those who order a special. I have a standard price for CDs and DVDs regardless of whether or not I have to download an iso on request. I appreciate any advice you might have. If I should just forget about it then please let me know. Background: Although New Zealand is beginning to understand the meaning of broadband ( ADSL ) it is still quite expensive. We are billed a lot for bandwidth and many people don't have access to the bandwidth required to download a DVD. I offer an alternative option. I still have to pay for the bandwidth like everyone else, but I aim to spread the cost over multiple sales of media. ( the more multiple the better... ) My prices are, I think reasonable for the convenience of having a a physical install disk. I don't intend in any way to modify the content of the data I download and ship. An SHA1SUM or MD5SUM of the CD or DVD will match exactly that provided by the Open Solaris project. Thanks and kind regards David Latham _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
