Because it is the best optical media mastering suite, bar none. No ifs, buts, 
or maybes.
There is no software, open source/freeware/commercial currently on the market 
that even comes close in comparison to cdrtools. Not even "Nero".

And the thing wrong with that is...?
The use the full power of cdrtools, one has to use the command line; GUIs will 
always lag and therefore will never be capable of using cdrtools to their 
fullest potential.
