I've really been looking forward to b95, as it incorporates Firefox 3.01 (apparently better than the one from mozilla.org) as well as other fixes. I'm even hoping it installs on a laptop with ACPI rather than immediate panic. :-)
Unfortunately, the b95 download is clearly broken. The 1 DVD ISO download reports 473 MB on the screen (obviously wrong), and even when you click thru to download (without SDM), you get a 404. The 2 DVD ISO download seems like it is the right size, but again you get the 404. Even when the files are in place, as mentioned above, the network performance is wretched. On 100 MB downstream connections, I've never gotten more than 400 Kb/s download & usually get around 100 Kb/s. That's at best 50 % slower than most Linux distros & worse, slower than downloads from Microsoft. This is from Sun, "the network is the computer" ! I get the feeling that most folks inside of Sun use the internal build servers & never deal with this stuff, so maybe no one is paying attention. I agree completely with Bruno, getting the distribution out there properly is a showstopper.
