Hi Martin
Failsafe mode is textonly.
Not too sure how I can send log files where it doesn't work as the machine
doesn't respond to any inputs - need to pull the plug to reboot?
I think I will boot with 2GB and get all the log files you mention - as I am
new to solaris are there any other logs that would be useful whilst I am there.
I am guessing the configs will stay the same regardless of memory in system and
this will be therefore valid settings - is this a correct understanding?

John

Mhh, if failsafe works then we have a starting point. All we need is
to find out which of the services not running (or drivers not loaded)
in failsafe mode breaks things in multi-user default mode.
You say failsafe mode works, do you mean Xorg? Which ddx module (pls.
send us /var/log/Xorg.0.log)? Maybe vesa_drv.so?
It *could* be that it has to do the the DRM/DRI framework (kernel mode
drivers, foo_dri.so ddx modules or both.
Can you pls. send the log files in a case where it does work vs. where
not - with description?
I'm talking about both /var/log/Xorg.0 plus some dmesg output.

Thanks.
