I think the problem is the "Intel Matrix Storage manager option ROM v8.
Because I tried with another Dell Precision M4400 and I had the same
problem.

I'm writing this from an M2300 with snv_107 right now.. I don't think
I have the Intel Matrix Storage manager option ROM v8, but I can also
say that the M4300 works great as well.. The M2400/M4400 I heard had a
few problems, but can't confirm if those have been resolved. Let know
what bios revision or option you may need to tweak to get it working

I made a mistake. The machine is actually a Dell Precision M2400. So
it seems we bought the 2 models (M2400 and M4400) with issues.
I think from the livecd you can add -v to the kernel grub menu option
and get more details. Also have you looked at the bios to see if you
can disabled/change some settings and at least get a functional install..
