First, your posts have been good reading... About the gnu garbage... I see that attitude is common amongst long time Solaris users. Unfortunately my background is so thin, I'd not notice bad from good in most if not all cases. Why is it though that it appears many gnu tools have been adopted for Opensolaris? Is it just to try to make a transition for linux users a little less painful or something to do with licensing? Its probably getting far off topic for the thread but I wondered if you might list a few of the major deficiencies of gnu tools you are referring to. I mean things that a semi-literate low level user might notice so that I could move up to the Sun tools and really see the difference.
