Hi, whereas i'm not really bothered by the lack of cpu power management for "old" cpus, this discussion reminds me that i've never been able to figure why Enhanced SpeedStep is not supported for Banias/Dothans and Powernow for early Opterons... Is there any "technical" issue that prevents these models from being "supported" ?
For a "domestic" use I'm pleased by the way OpenSolaris handles power management on my Thinkpads (X41 and Z60t). While frequency scaling is not supported the laptop runs cooler than under Debian/Linux with the "ondemand" policy... (seems weird but it is appreciable) I used to have the powernow module of Casper Dik installed but it is not supported by recent builds... If someone can give us some insights... Kind regards, a.
