It is, and if you turn on compression, it is better than perfect ;-)
And with dedup, it will be even better.
Compression and dedup are indeed cool. Be conscious of the side-effects.
They both require processing time, and they both slow down the filesystem.
I haven't built up enough data for dedup, but on every system I've used,
compression (not gzip) improves filesystem performance. Less data gets
written to the disks.
