Are you *sure* it did not ask for a root user password ?
Did you just press enter blindly ?
If so, then root/enter may work.
Solaris 10 installs with just the 1 uswr account, root, by default. During
the install you will be asked for a password for it.
Once logged in, create a new user and use that.
