You can't just make a statement like that, as if it were a fact of some kind, and expect to retain any credibility. Qualify your statement such as: It's irrelevant to you personally. So be it. And then I can interpret what you say: To me, your assessment of what's irrelevant is irrelevant. I didn't quite glean any point of any kind out of your message, except to be pointlessly negative. Personally, I love opensolaris and solaris, and I wish you would quit dumping on it unless you're producing some sort of interesting and engaging conversation that we all learn or benefit from. I use sol10 and osol at home and at work. For some purposes (esp. file server), I feel they are the best-in-class solution, and I don't see any other products approaching that anytime soon. For home, I'm comfortable using a free product. For work, I feel it's the best-practice to have an OS with a support contract. AKA solaris proper, AKA solaris 10, AKA solaris commercial. As for possibilities moving forward, the one thing that is really entirely certain is that sol10 will remain commercially available and supported, for all of us professionals who feel the support is relevant and even required. _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
