It was a rough number. Any schmo can get that. Here's how I got that number: Go to http://dell.com and browse to find a server which supports solaris. Select "No operating system." Make a note of the price. Then select the various solaris options, and see how the price changes. I believe it's $450 for solaris & 1yr basic support, or $1200 for 3 yrs. If you were quoted $1000 or more, it's for a higher level of support, or a longer term of contract.
